Tiling in Nice,
floors, walls, large formats and stone.
Floor tiles, large formats, wall tiles, marble and natural stone. We prepare the base, plan the layout and lay the tiles so the result lasts for years, in apartments as well as villas.

Lasting tiling starts with the base
A hollow-sounding tile, a cracked joint, a large slab with a lip: almost always, the problem comes from what's underneath.
Before laying, we check the flatness and moisture of the floor, level it if needed and apply the right primer. This work isn't visible, but it decides how well the tiling holds.

Tiles, wall tiles, marble: what we lay
Floor tiles and large formats
60×60, 120×60, 120×120 and more: large formats create calm, bright rooms with few joints. They need a very flat base and careful laying.
Our advice: on large formats, we apply adhesive to both the base and the tile (back-buttering) and use levelling clips. No voids under the slab, no hollow-sounding tiles.
Chevron and herringbone
Patterns give character to a hallway, a kitchen or a bathroom. They forgive nothing: the axis of the pattern is set out from the centre of the room or the front door before the first tile is laid.

Wall tiles
Kitchen, bathroom, splashback: we plan the layout so that cuts fall in the corners rather than in the middle of the wall, and we line up the joints with the floor where the format allows.
Marble, travertine and natural stone
Polished marble floors, travertine, fireplace cladding, stairs. Natural stone varies from slab to slab: we lay them out before fixing to balance veins and tones across the room.
Our advice: polished marble is sensitive to acid (lemon, vinegar, some cleaning products) and slippery when wet. For a kitchen or a shower, we talk it through with you before you choose.

Wood-effect tiles
The look of wood with the strength of porcelain stoneware: ideal in a kitchen, a bathroom or over underfloor heating. Laid as straight planks, chevron or herringbone, with a careful offset to avoid a repetitive look.
Outdoor tiling and terraces
Terraces, balconies, pool surrounds: outdoors, we choose a non-slip tile with you and lay it with a fall so water drains away.

How we lay tiles
The setting-out plan
Before the first tile goes down, we plan the layout: where the cuts fall, how the joints line up, where the pattern starts.
Back-buttering
Adhesive on both the base and the tile, with the right trowel. The tile is fully supported: it doesn't sound hollow and doesn't crack under load.
The right joints
Cement grout, epoxy grout in exposed areas, movement joints on large surfaces: every room has its own constraints.

Tiling FAQ
How much does tiling cost in Nice?
The price depends mainly on the condition of the base, the format and the pattern. That's why we quote after the visit, item by item.
Can you tile over existing tiles?
Sometimes, if they are well bonded, flat, without hollow-sounding tiles, and the extra height clears the doors. We check on site; otherwise we remove them.
When can I walk on new tiles?
It depends on the adhesive and the grout. We tell you the exact time at the end of the job, and protect the floor if other trades come in after us.
Do you lay large-format tiles?
Yes, with back-buttering and levelling clips. For very large formats, we check the flatness of the base before starting.
Do you supply the tiles?
Usually you choose the tiles. We help you calculate the quantity including offcuts, and supply the adhesives, primers, grout and tools.
