Parquet installation and restoration in Nice,
herringbone, chevron, straight planks.
Solid or engineered parquet, glued, floating or nailed. We lay classic parquet as well as herringbone and chevron patterns, and we restore existing floors: sanding, varnish, oil or wax. In apartments and villas from Monaco to Cannes.

A good parquet floor is prepared before the first board
Parquet is a living material: it swells when the air is humid and shrinks when it is dry. On the Côte d'Azur, between the sea air in winter and the heat of summer, this is even more true.
That is why we always start with the subfloor: we measure the moisture of the screed, check its flatness and let the parquet acclimatise in the room before laying. This preparation prevents boards lifting or joints opening a few months later.

Herringbone, chevron, straight planks
Chevron parquet
The boards are cut at an angle at their ends and meet in a point, forming continuous chevrons. It is the pattern of Haussmann-style apartments and the grand homes of the Riviera.
Our advice: we set out the axis of the pattern from the centre of the room or the front door. A chevron that is a few centimetres off shows immediately in a hallway.
Herringbone parquet
Rectangular boards laid at right angles to each other in a zigzag. More classic and a little simpler to lay than chevron, with an equally elegant result.
Our advice: before gluing the first board, we mark the axis of the pattern with a laser. The stronger the pattern, the more any error at the start shows at the other end of the room.

Straight plank parquet
Wide, long planks for a contemporary look, or narrower boards for a classic style. Laid straight, they make a room look bigger, especially in the direction of the light.
Parquet restoration: sanding and finishes
Dull, scratched or greyed parquet doesn't need replacing. We sand it back to sound wood, then apply the finish of your choice: varnish, oil or wax.
Our advice: varnish protects best in busy rooms. Oil and wax give a more natural look and can be repaired locally, but they need regular maintenance.
Glued, floating or nailed: which method?
Glued down
The parquet is fully glued to the screed. It is the most stable and quietest method, and the only one possible for chevron or herringbone. It suits underfloor heating with a compatible parquet.
Floating
The boards are joined together on an underlay, without being fixed to the floor. Quick and economical, ideal in renovation over an existing floor in good condition.
Nailed
The traditional method, on joists. It can make up for an uneven floor and gives solid parquet its characteristic sound and spring.

You choose your parquet. Here is what we explain to our clients before they order.
Parquet flooring FAQ
Can parquet be laid over tiles?
Often, yes. Floating or glued, as long as the tiles are well bonded and flat. We also need to check that the new height still clears the doors. We check this during the visit.
Is parquet compatible with underfloor heating?
Yes, with engineered parquet designed for it, preferably glued. We check the manufacturer's compatibility and the screed heating-up protocol before laying.
How long should parquet acclimatise before laying?
The parquet must acclimatise in the room where it will be laid, in its boxes, usually for at least 48 hours. The manufacturer states the exact time.
Do you restore old parquet?
Yes. We sand the parquet to remove the old finish, scratches and stains, then apply varnish, oil or wax depending on how the room is used and the look you want. Solid parquet can be sanded several times over its life.
Do you supply the parquet?
Usually you choose your parquet. We help you calculate the quantity including offcuts, especially for chevron where offcuts are larger. We supply the adhesive, underlay, preparation products and tools.
