Bathroom renovation in Nice,
from strip-out to the last joint.
Walk-in showers, wall tiles, large-format tiling and waterproofing under the tiles. We renovate bathrooms in older apartments as well as villas, from Monaco to Cannes.

In a bathroom, what you don't see matters most
Beautiful tiles are no use if water gets behind them. What makes a bathroom last is what lies under the tiles: a sound base, continuous waterproofing in wet areas and the right fall towards the drain.
That's why we always start there. The finish, the choice of tiles and grout come next, and they are what you see every day.

Bathroom renovation: step by step
Removal and preparing the base
We remove the old tiles and, if needed, the bath or shower tray. Then we check the walls and floor: flatness, moisture, cracks. A properly prepared base means tiles that stay put.
Our advice: in an older building, we protect the common areas and organise the removal of rubble before work starts. Your neighbours will thank you.
Waterproofing under the tiles
In and around the shower, we apply a liquid waterproofing membrane under the tiles, with corner tapes and sleeves around the pipes. It forms a continuous skin behind the tiling.
Our advice: for a walk-in shower, the waterproofing must cover the floor and run up the walls. It's invisible, but it's what protects the apartment below.
Wall tiles, floors and large formats
Wall tiles, floor tiles, large marble- or stone-effect formats: we plan the layout so that cuts fall in the right places, in the corners and around the niche, not in the middle of a wall.
On large formats, we apply adhesive to both the base and the tile and use levelling clips. Fewer joints, a calmer look.

Grout and finishing
Grout suited to wet rooms, flexible silicone joints in the corners and around the tray, full cleaning. We do the handover with you and explain how to look after the joints.
Replacing a bath with a walk-in shower
This is the most common request in Nice apartments. Three things decide whether it's possible and how:
The height of the drain
A level-access shower needs a fall towards the drain. If the existing drain is too high, we look at an extra-flat tray or a small step.
The fall and the linear drain
Central drain or linear drain along the wall: a linear drain allows a fall in one direction, which is easier with large-format tiles.
Waterproofing
Without a tray, the whole floor becomes the shower. Waterproofing under the tiles isn't optional, and we apply it to the whole area.
Small bathrooms: our advice
Many bathrooms in Nice's older buildings are under 5 m². A few choices make a real difference.
Bathroom renovation FAQ
How long does a bathroom renovation take?
It depends on the area, the strip-out and the drying times of the waterproofing and grout. We give you a precise schedule with the quote, after the visit.
Can you tile over existing tiles?
Sometimes, if they are well bonded and flat. In a shower, we prefer to remove them and redo a continuous waterproofing layer. We check this on site.
Which tiles for a walk-in shower?
On the floor, a non-slip tile suited to wet bare feet. Large formats work with a linear drain and a fall in one direction; with a central drain, smaller formats follow the falls better.
Is waterproofing needed under the tiles?
In the shower and on areas exposed to splashes, yes. Tiles and grout alone are not waterproof.
Do you supply the tiles?
Usually you choose the tiles. We help you calculate the quantities and supply the adhesives, waterproofing, grout and tools.
